Acquiring a New Puppy. Attempt #45.

Sorry to leave you hanging from my last post. To recap...

My friend/neighbor came by in the early part of last week very casually, just thought she was saying hey. Finally, towards the end of the conversation, she breaks out the "We are fed up with Bells, we are getting rid of her. We wanted to ask y'all first before we put her up for sale." I was shocked, I had kid around before about stealing them giving us Bells, but never thought they actually would. I blamed it on a bad night/week/month, who knows?

To make a long story short, B and I discussed it back and forth multiple times. I really wanted her to be able to keep her puppy, plus we really weren't sold on getting an actual puppy puppy, so we delayed. Color her golden, add 4 years to her and call her Doug and you got us sold then.

Come friday night was the first time I ran into my neighbor again. I inquired about her and her husband's decision and she settled my mind with "We are going to keep her!" Excellent, she easily made our decision for us.

In other news, the weekend went by fast with nothing of importance to report and here we are on Monday again. We have a 3 day weekend coming up this weekend so we are pumped about that!

Bells

Look at that preciousness! Before anyone Hillary S. gets excited she is not ours. Our neighbor, who also has a basset hound found her on lajesads and couldn't say no. Where on the other hand I live with some one who unfortunately said no. This is me driving back from picking up Mason's new girlfriend with my neighbor. Yes, he has 2 now, Remember his original one, they are now residing in the same residence.

This past Monday, me and Mas got to puppysit. Oh the small joys in life. :) Her name is Bells. She is just 5 weeks old and we just might have to make the babysitting thing a weekly occurrence. She is just too dang cute.

Only Child Syndrome.

Now, before anyone gets way to excited by these cute pictures. "Lucy" had to go back, and we didn't get to keep her.

What happened to Doug you may ask?

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I am going to be able to make it home in May. We couldn't get the plane schedule to work with us correctly, so I will be going home sometime in the fall. On the plus side, we have special visitors coming in June and July, which we are super excited about!

We decided what we could find on the island.

Not much.

They have a selection of classifieds on lajesads.com and every once in a while a pure bred dog gets posted, and that is where we came across "Lucy".

She was so cute, a 3 month old Siberian Husky, whose actual named was Coco, but we changed that immediately. The current owner's wife is allergic to her so they had to get rid of her. They agreed to let us take her for the night to see how she behaved with Mas-face, and such. We were 100% positive there would not be a problem. Mason gets along with everyone.

It took us about 45 minutes to determine Mason said NO!!! He was not having it. Whether it was because the puppy was super hyper, or just because he was confused, he didn't want "Lucy" in his house, nor in his backyard.

We had to return her. Mason comes first. We were disappointed.

Bye bye "Lucy".

The rest of the weekend consisted of grilling bbq chicken pizza outside, DELICIOUS, and some card playing with some friends. Then Sunday, consisted of our normal routine of church and Mason walking. That evening we had dinner with some friends at As Nossas Ilhas (Our Islands). There has been an event going on the past 2 weeks on the island, and yesterday was the last day. You could dine at any of these top rated restaurants listed below and for 9 euro, you get an appetizer, entree, and dessert.

(The whole image wouldn't load correctly.)

The restaurant was "downtown" in Angra, the capital/largest city. Little did we know "Benfica won its first Portuguese league title in five years". (I had to look that up.) The streets were going wild!! It took us about 30 minutes to get out of the traffic. There was honking, people hanging out of cars, flag waving from the beginning to end of dinner, and who knows how long everyone stayed out there. It was fun to see everyone so excited, although we had no idea really why at the time.

Hope all the moms we know had a wonderful Mother's day, especially our favorite two. :) Wish we could be there.

Happy Monday!

Doug/Logan

Isn't he precious. This is who we really really really want!!! We have been wanting to rescue a Golden Retriever for a long while now, you have probably heard us talk about it. The procedure got a little delayed with us moving to another country and such.

Mason's new friend is 4 years old, and in Austin right not just waiting to meet his new parents! You are able to read more about him here: http://grr-tx.com/adoption/adopt_to/bailey_10-023/bailey.htm.

The game plan is to get him when I come home at the end of May. This is all very tentative still, depending on if I am able to get a job before then. My parents are helping us out, and talking to the adoption/rescue organization for us. Did I mention we really really want him!!

We need help with names. Doug or Logan are the ideas we've got so far. Any thoughts?
