Why I love my husband. Reason # 211.

This is usually what happens when I start a project...

Mas and I become the spectators. Remember that frame project, ya I can't take the credit for spray painting. I maybe did one then accidentally spray painted my whole hand lost my patience, and searched the house for helpful participants. Mason turned me down, so that left only one handy helper and that is usually what happens with most projects.

This one, I alloted myself a full 2 hours that I knew I was going to be at home to complete my planting. My 2 hours got turned into babysitting 2 additional bassets, chit-chatting with the neighbors, recruiting one of the neighbors to come help me, the phone ringing (Congrats Jen!), and only half a hole dug up in the end. Oh what a loving husband to put up with my personal turned family projects.

Elephant Ears.

One of our neighbors has completely outdone us on front yards. *Side note: She also has a very cute Basset Hound* I am always talking to her about her gardening skills and how that is a domestic trait I was not gifted with. This weekend she had some extra elephant ears lying around and came over to see if we wanted them, along with offering to help me plant them. :)

This is the end result. Very pleased with our new garden. This one was actually planted correctly, so with my watering skills I should be able to keep them alive.

This weekend was also the final days of Praia Fest. We strolled the streets one final time on Saturday night, and went and saw the beach bullfight on Sunday. We actually saw a handful of people get hit this time by the bull. (They are all okay.) I mean, that is the highlight of standing around watching these things. Everyone wants the bull to win.

Lastly, last night we left the house at 11:13pm (Mom, you would be so proud) to go see the grand finale of fireworks. Well worth it.

We have a full week a head of us. Until next year, Praia Fest!

Brown Thumb.

I have always aspired to be one of those people that has the capability to keep things alive. Plant life I mean. I long for a little garden of peppers, tomatoes, herbs, etc. all hand-grown with a field of beautifully planted flowers around them.

This weekend's confirmed my assessment that after 24 years of life I still do not possess that talent, and will have to work really hard (recruit friends and family) to make my garden dream come true.

The "Self-Help" store on base got a shipment in this past weekend, with tons of flowers and plants. They have these for military members and family to come get what they want for free! So I took on the challenge...

We got a small batch, knowing this experiment might take a turn for the worse.

The finished product, and now 4 days later...

This tragic scene unfolded after day 1 1/2 I believe. Brandon keeps trying to save them by watering them. I think we can safely say it is a lost cause.
